    Russians didn't  need to be taught to sacrifice their lives for others: they were ready to give away everything at a difficult moment, even to die for others in a disaster. The question was, what about the rest of the time? As one of our humorists said, "You need disaster to make people kind, but in good times people are like wolves."

       I can't help comparing Methodists with Communists. The Methodist Church needs to forget numbers and reports that were typical for Communist countries, and we all know what happened to their economic and social "progress!" For 70 years Communists had been reporting that they were ahead of other countries - until the system collapsed. We should become a Church filled with the Spirit, not reports. But, unfortunately, the GC gathering reminds me more of a Communist Party Congress...
